Gas and Power Investment Company (GPIC)
NNPC Gas & Power Investment Company is wholly owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and was incorporated on July 8, 2016, to promote gas utilization as a cleaner fuel and maximize value from Investments across the LNG and Power value chains as well as the Gas Based Industries (GBIs). An approval has been given by the Federal Government to transfer two Joint Ventures (JVs) Independent Power Plants (IPPs) to the NGPIC namely: Okpai IPP and Afam VI. The strategic intent is to incorporate these JVs in order to efficiently manage them and maximize profit.

Okpai Power JV IPP
Okpai was a Federal Government JV IPP between NNPC/NAOC with a capacity of generating 480MW power. There is a secured presidential approval to transfer this asset to NGPIC with the mandate to incorporate and form an asset management JV company. Incorporation of the JV asset is in progress.
Afam VI JV IPP
Afam VI was also a Federal Government JV IPP between NNPC/SPDC/TEPNG/NAOC with a capacity to generate about 650MW power. A presidential approval has also been secured to transfer this asset to NGPIC with the mandate to incorporate and form an asset management JV company. Incorporation of the JV asset is in progress.
